Many men and women develop varicose or spider veins. These unsightly veins cause discomfort, pain and even embarrassment for millions of adults. But they can also pose serious health risks. Previously, treatment required hospitalization, general anesthesia and a prolonged recovery time. Now, with state-of-the-art technology, VeinCare of Wilmington can eliminate these troublesome veins through convenient, easy treatments in our office.

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins refers to a dilated vein in which the venous valves have ceased to function properly. Varicose veins can cause pain, fatigue, swelling, blood clots and ulcers. As a result, the blood can no longer be optimally transported back to the heart. It collects in the legs due to gravity, thereby leading to blood congestion. The pressure in the veins increases, which causes the vein walls to stretch and the veins to bulge out.

Spider Veins

Spider veins are dilated threadlike blood vessels that appear red or blue in appearance on the surface of the skin. While spider veins do not pose a health risk, they can be unsightly and remain a cosmetic concern for countless men and women.

Varicose Vein Treatment

VeinCare of Wilmington Offers multiple modalities of treatment to fit your varicose and spider vein needs. Our venous ablations use up-to-date technology and latest treatment options offered.

Ultrasound-Guided Thermal Ablation

Our Physician makes a small needle stick to access the vein and inserts a small catheter to seal the vein with radio frequency energy. The catheter will deliver heat, causing the diseased vein to shrink and close. The catheter is slowly withdrawn to treat the entire diseased vein. Fore more information visit www.venclose.com.

Ultrasound-Guided Chemical Ablation

Using a FDA approved sclerosing agent Varithena (polidocanol injectable foam), our physician directly injects the malfunctioning vein. The diseased vein collapses and the microfoam is deactivated. Mechanical Chemical Ablation

Our physician makes a small needle stick to access the vein and inserts a small catheter using the Clarivein system. This specialty infusion catheter with a 360-degree rotating wire tip allows for dispersion of the sclerosing agent polidocanol into the diseased vein. For more info visit www.merit.com/clarivein.

Once varicose vein treatment is completed, blood flow will naturally reroute to nearby healthy veins.

These simple treatment options are minimally invasive, performed in office, and require little recovery time. The best part is these procedures are covered by most insurances.

Topical Sclerotherapy Reticular and Spider Vein Treatment

Small reticular and spider veins are injected with a sclerosing agent polidocanol that causes the veins to collapse down and fade over time. This simple cosmetic procedure is virtually painless, however multiple treatments may be required to achieve optimal cosmetic results.
